PE Funds Buying Distressed Debt

Private equity (PE) firms were actively acquiring distressed debt from highly leveraged oil and gas companies amid persistently low oil prices. While oil prices had rebounded from earlier 2016 lows, the underlying weakness in the sector kept many issuers' debt trading at distressed levels.
